The Leadership Conference – A Thank You & Gauging Interest in a HR Book Club
Hello, everyone! I wanted to take a brief moment to thank everyone for attending this year’s Leadership Conference, last month. Now more than ever, your time is a gift and a currency and we wanted to extend our gratitude to you for sharing your time with us. Thank you! I hope you left the conference inspired and with a couple of insights that you’ve been able to apply personally and/or professionally.
I recently touched base with our opening keynote, Stephen Shedletzky, and he encouraged those who thought his message resonated, to connect with him. In addition, the opening keynote comments were reviewed, and many of you expressed interest around the books Stephen and I discussed. Thank you for the feedback, and I am excited to share that book list.
I’ve provided the book titles below and, of course, you can purchase them at most major book retailers. I found them locally at Left Bank Books - a St. Louis treasure. In addition, you can learn more about the author by clicking the link to view their LinkedIn profiles.
- The Attributes by Rich Diviney
- Radical Candor by Kim Scott
- The Coaching Habit by Michael Bungay Stanier
- The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek
- Turn the Ship Around by L David Marquet
- Emotional Agility by Susan David
Lastly, the Leadership Conference inspired me so much that I want to gauge your interest in a potential book club, exclusively for our SHRM-STL members. While the idea is in its infancy, I propose three key goals:
- Respect your time. Enjoy the flexibility of quarterly meetings.
- Provide a team environment where the group will either vote on book suggestions or take turns picking titles.
- Provide thoughtful and engaging conversation where feedback can easily be applied at work and at home.
If you’re interested, please email me at [email protected]. Hopefully, if there’s enough interest, we’ll work out the details and have a kick-off in 2022!
