Message From the President
Focus Forward 2020: Lead with Passion, Serve with Purpose
We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated. – Maya Angelou
We are quickly approaching the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment (also known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment) which became Federal Law on August 18, 1920. St. Louisan, Virginia Minor was an important advocate for women’s suffrage and played a significant role in the movement to help break barriers in St. Louis and beyond. Let’s celebrate our freedoms that are possible because defeat did not stop people like Virginia Minor and others who have taken on the issues that make our country great!
I hope that the COVID-19 pandemic has created not just challenges leading to defeat, but more importantly presented opportunities to make positive change(s) in your life, your families’ lives, and/or the lives of others, whether you know them or not! Small changes can make big differences.
Remain Calm, Be Well, Stay Kind 😊
Warmest Regards,
Mary Lou Smith, PHR, SHRM-CP
2020 President
