Message From the President
Welcome to 2020 and our Focus Forward! It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve as the 2020 President for SHRM of Greater St. Louis. My commitment to you our members, the board, and the organization is to grow your development, build our membership, and continue our commitment to transform you as Human Resource Professionals into valued experts to make a positive difference in yourself, the workplace, our community, and beyond. You are more valued than you know. Every member has a special talent just waiting to be tapped! Help me Lead with Passion and Serve with Purpose.
We will have many opportunities to use your input and feedback to continue to improve and deliver high quality monthly programs, an awesome leadership conference (October 2020), and give back to the community through our events like HR Day of Service (April/May 2020) just to name a few. We plan to utilize our member's strong knowledge, skills, and abilities to help us make a difference in our organization and the community through these opportunities.
Don't forget to register for our February 19, 2020 Annual Half-Day (afternoon) Legal Update to sharpen your knowledge and equip you with tools you need to be prepared for 2020 and beyond. This is just one more opportunity to see the huge value that you receive in your membership investment.
If I might, I'd like to ask those of you who migh be afraid to step out of your comfort zone - to stretch yourself - and check out our opportunities to volunteer with us in some capacity, large or small. We have committee involvement and mentoring opportunities, just to name a few. Help us, help others.
What's your story? I started as a member of this organization 10 years ago and quickly learned there were opportunities for me to get involved and learn, grown, and serve with others. My journey through membership, committee involvement, volunteering in the community, and serving with my fellow members on the Board of Directors to lead SHRM of Greater St. Louis has been, and continues to be, a privilege and a blessing that I will long not forget. Thank you to all those who have served before us and paved the way. A special thank you to Linda Pipitone, Past President, and Tim Wells, Immediate Past President for all of your hard work and guidance to move SHRM of Greater St. Louis forward. I also thank Beth Quick-Andrews, our Chapter Administrator, and the team at Q&A for their support of our organization.
Get connected with us via the website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Cheers & Warmest Regards,
Mary Lou Smith, PHR, SHRM-CP
2020 President
