Message From the President
As 2021 begins, let us reflect on our chapter’s theme for the year – Rise Up Together. It is an understatement to say that 2020 was a challenging year. Rather than rehashing those challenges, let us focus on the present.
I have benefited from journaling my gratitude daily for several years and would like to share what I am grateful for this year.
First and foremost, I am grateful for you – the members of SHRM of Greater St. Louis. You understand how important both our local, state, and national chapters are to the human resource profession. You know that your chapter membership gives you the ability to stand out from the crowd through continuing education, networking, and online tools.
I am grateful for all those who volunteer their support of our chapter operations, including our 2021 SHRM of Greater St. Louis Board and committee chairs. Volunteer opportunities are the best way to leverage your SHRM of Greater St. Louis experience! These opportunities exist with time commitments as small as one hour a month. If you would like to volunteer, please let us know.
I am grateful for our chapter sponsors. In addition to their sponsorship, many give their time and other resources to create valuable chapter assets, including programming.
I am grateful for our chapter staff who organizes our chapter to make the day-to-day challenges of running an organization of more than 500 members appear seamless.
In closing, I would ask that you consider a gratitude journal for yourself. If you write down three unique things each day for which you are grateful, you will have a reminder of 21 blessings in your life at the end of each week and over a thousand at the end of the year.
Best Regards,
Ben Houseman, CFP®, ChFC®
2021 President
