Message From the President
In 1991, April became National Volunteer Month as a part of George H.W. Bush’s 1,000 Points of Light campaign. Since that time (and before), people have volunteered and celebrated those who volunteer. Volunteers keep good going in so many different ways.
I enjoy volunteering because of the engagement it provides me with others. A collaboration that includes inspiration and perspiration can yield excellent results from the steadfast efforts of volunteers. Think about all of the projects that people can accomplish when they volunteer.
How can we become a light in the lives of others? Volunteering is a good choice. It may help us to bring joy into our lives. In her book, The Happiness Project, Gretchen Rubin says, “One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make other people happy.” Become a light in someone else’s eyes, and you may unlock the key to your happiness!
Best Regards,
Ben Houseman, CFP®
2021 President
