Message From the President
As we embarked on 2020, we had no idea what was in store for our world. As a Financial Planner by trade, my title implies that I spend the bulk of my day planning. As I think about the theme for this month’s newsletter (Emergency Preparedness & Safety Awareness), it reminds me of the planning all of us do both professionally and personally.
There are many different elements of chaos that can affect our homes and offices. Last year, we saw one of the biggest challenges -- if not the biggest, to our safety and emergency preparedness planning. As we socially distanced ourselves from each other, kitchen tables become classrooms and workspaces. The commute to the office was replaced by walking the dogs around the block for an extra lap. Some of us could not work remotely. They had to press on while applying lots of hand sanitizer and donning PPE in their work environments. The events of last year have hopefully encouraged you to revisit your planning — personally and professionally.
I am happy to announce that the Greater St. Louis Chapter is moving back to in-person events. While our annual conference will continue to be virtual, we expect monthly chapter meetings to be in-person as early as September 2021.
I look forward to seeing all of you soon!
Best Regards,
Ben Houseman, CFP®
President, SHRM of Greater St. Louis
